15-40 lb = 4-8 mg,

divide dose x2 daily

4. Doxycylcene 100 (mg?) – for lyme and tick borne disease 5 mg per 1 kg

30 lb dog x 2 tabs daily = 60 mg tab for 30 days tick born

60 lb = 90 mg

90 lb = 120 mg

5. Amoxicillin-clavulenate – upper respiratory / skin infections

13.75 mg per 1 kg

30 lb dog - 200mg x 2 daily

60 lb - 375mg

90 lb - 550mg

6. Endosorb – activated charcoal with kaopectate for toxicity (vomiting)

1 tab per 20 lb dog x 4 times daily

7. Cephalexin – skin infections, UTI

dog dosage 22 mg per kg to 33 mg per kg

up to 40 lbs - 250 mg x 2 daily

60 lbs - 500 mg x 2 daily

90 lbs - 1000 mg x 2 daily

8. Prednisone or prednisolone – 5 mg and 20 mg tabs

steroid, auto immune, bee sting

start high, not long lasting, taper down

9. Kwik stop – styptic powder for minor bleeding

10. Carprofen – non steroidal anti-inflammatory for arthritic conditions

1 mg per lb,

tabs 25mg, 75mg, 100mg

1-2 times for daily pain, arthritis

excellent and safe for long term basis

11. Cetirizine – atopic / allergic reactions, anti-histamine

better than Benadryl i.e. orig. Zyrtec

5 and 10 mg tabs

1 daily 10 mg per 22 lb dog

30 mg 60

40 mg 90

12. Gabapentin – neurogenic pain, can induce grogginess

100 and 400 mg tabs

10-20 mg per 1 kg x 3-4 times daily

25 lb dog – 100-200 mg

50 lb dog - 200-400 mg

13. 1% injectable ivermectin – for scabies, ear mites

Safest preventative flea medication:

1. Generic Pyrethrin / Permethrin with Precor – (Precor is an insect growth regulator)

2. Spray – Vet kem or Orbitrol

3. Topical – Orbitrol
